X-WR-CALDESC:Breaking the Cycle: Socialization\, Masculinity\, and Ending V
 iolence in our Communities\nSaturday August 20th — 10:00am to 12:30pm\n\nT
he Emerge Center Against Domestic Abuse\, Goodwill Youth Reengagement Cent
ers\, Boys to Men Tucson\, and Women's Foundation for the State of Arizona
have partnered together and received funding to launch an intergeneration
al Healthy Masculinity Initiative in our Tucson community. The vision of t
he initiative is to promote safety and equity in our communities by provid
ing all boys and masculine-identified youth in Pima County with access to
people\, programs\, and policies that promote their emotional health and w
ell-being. A lot of problems with violence in our communities are related
to the ways that we are raising boys. How do children go from being lovin
g toddlers to violent men? What’s the relationship between the ways we rai
se boys and the men they become? How do we finally interrupt these cycles\
, to ensure that boys are supported to be their most loving selves? Most i
mportantly\, what are folks in Pima County doing to create meaningful chan
ge in our systems and communities\, so that we can nurture a generation of
men who feel safe to love?\n\nJoin us on August 20th\, as we showcase a s
eries of powerful short-films created by masculine identified youth\, foll
owed by a panel discussion from community leaders about what folks are doi
ng in Pima County to create permanent change in our community. This critic
al community-wide conversation will be focused on practical\, long-term st
rategies for change and care.\n\n\nThis important event is brought to you
in partnership with The Loft Cinema\, Emerge Center Against Domestic Abuse
\, Goodwill Youth Reengagement Centers\, Boys to Men Tucson\, and the HIM
Initiative.\n\nLunch will be provided. Space is limited\, and registration
is required. \n\nPlease feel free to contact HIM Initiative Director\, Ma
riah Harvey (she/they) at mariah@btmtucson.com if you have any questions i
